Casio QV-R51 Digital Camera Review |
Digital Camera Review by: Michael Gazzola
Casio's new 5 mega pixel QV-R51 has plenty on offer. It comes with everything you need to get started including CD software that makes uploading your images onto your PC a breeze. The camera's start-up is less than a second, so by the time you push the power button and point it at your subject it's ready to go. It has a shutter lag (claiming) of around 0.1sec which provides the photographer with a near 35mm experience.
The 2 inch LCD display is a real winner which will win many shoppers sitting on the fence when choosing between cameras. The quality produced for its class, is clear, sharp and with good light metering for unevenly lit subjects. The macro feature is one that would be above it's class producing images sharper than I have seen for previous 5 mega pixel consumer cameras.
The camera is 'pocket-sized' without being too small which many of our parents will appreciate - especially in an era where technology is shrinking everything electronic. The QV-R51 is very user friendly, and can be easily used without reading the manual. Navigating the camera's menu is done without causing a headache - with most of the key functions available within a single press of a button. Too many cameras these days have multiple levels built into their menus to scroll through - which Casio have reduced.
One of my favourite functions was a simple one, which is the option to shoot not just colour, b&w or sepia images but with red, green or blue cast coloured images. I had plenty of fun with this option which I am sure many will appreciate. It's a different feature and definitely the type which makes the cameras more appealing.
Overall, the QV-R41 is a sturdy digital 5 mega pixel camera that will please most. It's user-friendly options, easy of use and accompanying software mare for a complete package that is highly recommended.
