Canon PowerShot SX210 IS Digital Camera

canon20100211a.jpgCanon Australia have announced the latest addition to its already impressive Super Zoom range, the PowerShot SX210 IS. Offering versatile shooting in a slim body, the PowerShot SX210 IS shoots both high-quality stills and stunning High Definition (HD) movies using a powerful 14x Optical Zoom.

“The PowerShot SX210 IS is the perfect high-performance all-rounder compact digital camera. Whether for travel or to capture great family memories, it gives keen photographers more versatility with high quality stills and HD movie recording all in a slim body that they can take anywhere with them,” said Anna Kalinowska, Assistant Brand Manager – PowerShot, Canon Australia. “The SX210 IS offers point and shoot simplicity as well as the option to extend into creative modes and even full manual control making it ideal for photographers at any level.”

Enjoy photos as well as HD movies!

The PowerShot SX210 IS will impress photographers with its 1280 x 720 HD movie recording and stereo sound capability, enabling users to capture memories in stunning video as well as in stills.

A powerful 14x Optical Zoom lens means users can zoom while recording to get up close to their subject without losing image or sound quality. Additionally, the PowerShot SX210 IS features ‘dynamic’ mode, a Canon first, which improves on wide-angle image stabilisation system to minimise blur and produce clear crisp images even when recording while walking.

The ergonomic design of the PowerShot SX210 IS features an easily accessible ‘movie button’ which makes switching between still and video shooting simple. This one touch process means users are able to launch quickly into movie recording and ensures that they never miss a moment.

The 28mm wide-angle lens lets users capture sweeping panoramic landscapes, large group shots and towering architecture in great detail, whilst the impressive 14x optical zoom lens incorporates Optical Image Stabilization, reducing the effects of blur caused by camera shake to ensure clean, crisp shots every time.

Creative high-quality images with ease!

The SX210 IS features Canon’s TruCapture technology, making it easy for users to get the shot they want. TruCapture combines three Canon proprietary technologies - Optical Image Stabilizer for clear, sharp shots; a DiG!C 4 Image Processor for true-to-life colours; and Intelligent Auto that makes taking photos easy.

Boasting a huge 14.1 megapixel CCD sensor and Canon’s DIG!C 4 Image Processor, the PowerShot SX210 IS produces high-quality images and movies, ensuring your precious memories receive only the best treatment.

Similarly, achieving amazing high-quality shots has never been easier thanks to the inclusion of Canon’s Intelligent Auto technology. From bright backlit scenes of moving people to landscapes with blue skies, macros and sunsets, Intelligent Auto recognises up to 22 different scenes ensuring that users can easily capture true-to-life shots every time.

The PowerShot SX210 IS also features Canon’s recently launched Intelligent Flash Exposure technology which automatically detects whether flash is required and adjusts the flash output, shutter speed, aperture and ISO speed accordingly to best suit the photo being taken. This technology reduces problems such as shadows on faces, flash not reaching the subject or highlight blow-outs.

Complementing this, the PowerShot SX210 IS debuts a new shooting mode known as Smart Shutter. This new mode is ideal for times when the photographer wishes to be included in the shot, but there is no-one around to help take the photo:

Smile Smart Shutter automatically shoots when it recognises that the subject is smiling;
Wink Self Timer activates the camera self timer by recognising a wink from the subject.
Face Self Timer detects when the photographer has joined the frame and two seconds later, the camera will shoot;

The PowerShot SX210 IS features a Low Light scene mode. Depending on the scene, the camera automatically controls the ISO sensitivity (from ISO400 to ISO6400) so that shooting low-light scenes is easier than ever before[2]. In addition, the camera includes two new creative scene modes - ‘miniature effect’ which imitates the visual qualities of a ‘Tilt Shift’ lens, applying blur to background and foreground areas to render your subjects in miniature and ‘fish-eye effect’ which mimics the optical characteristics of a fish eye lens to add creative distortion to landscapes, buildings, even close up shots of your pets and friends.

These memories can then easily be shared with friends and family on either the camera’s 3 inch wide PureColour LCD G screen or in High Definition on a large TV screen thanks to the HDMI mini connector.

All of the above technologies are housed within a sleek, slimmer design, 6mm smaller and 20g lighter that its predecessor. It’s a camera that keen photographers will want to take with them everywhere.
