Managing Director of the Ilford Asia Pacific region, Andrew Stewart, said, “As photography enthusiasts, we at Ilford respect the trust photographers have in the products they use. “Our black and white papers, film and chemicals can be relied upon to consistently deliver high quality results, which we are confident will impress new users, as they do our dedicated customers.” The Hypam Rapid Fixer is a rapid fixing agent offered as an Ilford alternative to Agfa’s MC-Fixer Agent, Acidofix Agent and Agefix Fixing Agent. As a concentrate liquid it offers variable contrast for trusted results. For draining off water, the Ilfotol Wetting Agent from Ilford replaces Agfa’s Agepon Wetting Agent and Agepon Super Wetting Agent, as a highly concentrated agent, suitable for replenishment. Ilford’s Multigrade IV RC Deluxe photographic fine art paper will offer dedicated users of Agfa’s Multicontrast Premium papers an outstanding result for the dish process and analogue mini labs. The Multigrade IV RC Deluxe is the direct equivalent, but Ilford’s recommendation is application dependent, with Multigrade RC Express suitable for photofinisher use, and Ilfospeed RC Digital recommended for laser enlarger use. The Ilford equivalent for Agfa Multicontrast Classic black and white paper is Multigrade IV FB Fiber. For photographers looking for an alternative to Agfa chemistry, Ilford offers several chemicals for processing black and white. The recommended alternative for Agfa’s Multicontrast paper developer in tray processing circumstances is Ilford’s Multigrade Developer, or Ilford’s 2000 RT in machine circumstances. Both of these are also appropriate alternatives for Agfa’s Neutol. For Neutol NE users the Ilford equivalent is Multigrade or PQU, or 2000 RT in machines, and those using Neutol WA should anticipate the arrival in 2006 of Ilford’s new Warmtone Developer. For conversions relating to fixers, 2000RT is the Ilford equivalent for Agfa’s Agetol, Agefix and MC Fixer in machines, whilst Ilford’s Rapid Fixer is a suitable replacement for Agefix, Acidofix and FX-Universal. Ilfotol is recommended for Agepon users. For film equivalents, Ilford recommends its FP4+ 125 film with wide exposure range or Delta 100 Professional to replace APX 100 film, and Ilford’s HP5+ or Delta 400 Professional for high sensitivity film equivalent to APX 400. To use instead of Agfa’s APX25, Ilford suggests its Pan F Plus black and white film with 50ASA. To develop film, the Ilfotec LC29 or Ilfosol S concentrated multi-purpose film developers will replace Rodinal Film and Special Film Developer, and for Studional Liquid Film Developer Ilford recommends Ilfotec DD or Ilfotec HC, or ID-11. Ilford also offers powder film developer alternatives, ID-11, Microphen, Ilfotec HC or Perceptol for photographers used to Agfa’s Refinal brand, with the Refinal M conversion recommendations being Ilfotec RT Rapid, Ilfotec HC for roller transport machines, or Ilfotec DD for dip/dunk.
