Samsung Protective Housing |
Samsung Techwin (CEO: Jung-gu Lee www.samsungtechwin.com) said that it succeeded in developing a protective housing product (model: SPH-V4/V3) for exclusive use with digital cameras, with the possibility to use 70m underwater, to be placed on the market. - Protective housing was developed to protect the digital camera in order to solve the limitations of digital camera use in water, moisture or shock environments. - Protective housing placed on the market this time around follows the SPH-410/340 model domestically unprecedented, placed on the market last year. It was designed to be applied to 4 million and 3 million-pixel high-level digital cameras Kenox V4, and V3 models, which have been gaining much popularity, placed on the market early this year, enabling taking photographs even at construction sites with much dust or noise, or 70m underwater. Foreign digital camera housing thus far in the market is only possible for use 30~40m underwater. - This product is characterized by its strong resistance to shock and lightweight feature, arrived at by adopting the use of polycarbonate used for airplane windows for all the plastic parts including the housing body, as well as the use of transparent material, enabling efficient use of all the functions of the digital camera and allowing the inside camera motions within the housing to be viewed. - Also, it was delicately designed to allow for adequate functions of special underwater photography of scuba divers, as well as for general use such as leisure and recreational activities at a swimming pool, beach, or water skiing, rafting, as well as construction sites, and it is possible to create image photography with more varied angles by the installation of an attachable wide-conversion lens or macro-lens for land and water use outside the housing. - Housing had thus far been manufactured for the use of film cameras for scuba divers to take special underwater photographs, from countries such as Japan, U.S.A., Canada, and Australia, and we had been completely dependent on imports. - With the recent sudden expansion of the distribution of digital cameras, housing for general use as well as special use started to gradually emerge, and all relevant companies such as Olympus, Canon, Fuji, Kodak, and Sony have been placing housing products for their own digital cameras on the market. - With the still relatively small demand in the market, on the monthly average, roughly a double-digit number of units are being placed on the market, but with the sharp increase in people enjoying leisure time, arising from the expansion of the 5-day workweek, the market is estimated to gradually grow. - Thanks to Samsung Techwin placing its housing product on the market, this time around, it is expected to solve A/S inconvenience and enable easy purchasing for the general public, as well as becoming an import substitute for housing products, which had previously been completely dependent on imports. |
