Samsung SPP-2020 Photo Printer |
Samsung, the world’s second largest laser engine manufacturer, bursts onto the photo printer scene with a pair of compact, high quality dye-sublimation photo printers—the SPP-2020 and the deluxe SPP-2040—that allow users to print perfect snap shots, with or without a PC. These desktop units feature an industry-leading 60-second print speed and produce beautiful 4” x 6” prints that emerge dry, and with a water and fade resistant finish that protects photos from fingerprints and smudging. Users can chose to print from their PC via USB 2.0 or directly from a camera phone, camcorder, or digital camera using USB 1.1 PictBridge TM . Both printers are wireless-capable with optional Bluetooth connectivity. “With our color printer successes fueling the fire, Samsung is ready to make its mark in this important market, which has grown with the digital camera revolution,” said Rey Roque, Vice President of Marketing, Samsung’s Information Technology Division (ITD). “Samsung is committed to delivering outstanding printing solutions, and we think this is exemplified in the new photo printers which, for example, allow camera phone users to directly print from their phones with USB 1.1 PictBridge TM or wirelessly with the optional Bluetooth.” Unlike ink jet printers, Samsung photo printers’ Dye Diffusion Thermal Transfer ensures that there is never a color level issue, which occurs when one color of cartridge on an ink jet goes low. The SPP-2020 and SPP-2040 have a built-in ability to balance color-levels, even when printing multiple copies, so they always print perfect rich color prints with pleasing flesh tones. Samsung SPP-2040: Edit Photos without a PC Users will appreciate the SPP-2040’s 2” color TFT-LCD, which allows for direct photo selection, editing, and deletion without the need for a PC. The screen and touch buttons allow users to zoom in, rotate, resize, crop and then print. Also, no matter what your media, this printer can handle it. The 7-in-1 memory interface is capable of accepting photos from Flash type I, II, Microdriver, SmartMedia, SecureDigital, MultiMedia Card, Memory Stick, and XD Cards. The SPP-2020 and SPP-2040 each come with a starter kit of 10 sheets of special Samsung photo paper, and users can stack 20 sheets of paper in the input tray, and 10 sheets in the output tray. Both printers are compatible with Windows (98/ME/2000/XP). |
