Olympus Tough TG-810

Olympus announces the launch of the TG-810, its most powerful digital compact camera yet, combining industry-leading tough features in a highly sophisticated digital compact with all the latest technology such as GPS, Electronic Compass and 3D shooting capability.

Waterproof to 10 metres, dustproof against sand and dirt1, shockproof up to 2 metres, freezeproof to -10°C, and crushproof capable of withstanding a 100kgf loading, Olympus’ tough technology ensures that the TG-810 will survive any knocks it may encounter in the harsh outdoors, from sea to snow, rocky ground to high mountains, giving users outstanding images in any situation.
 
The Olympus TG-810 also offers geo-tagging functionality with a built-in GPS unit and Electronic Compass that records the location data of user’s pictures. A live display can also instantly show the name of landmarks being photographed and automatically records country and region data, enabling easy picture management and picture review via geographic locations.

To combat difficult outdoor shooting conditions, the TG-810 provides a specially reinforced 3-inch, 920K HyperCrystal III LCD screen offering superior visibility in bright sunshine. Dual Image Stabiliser technology provides sharp, shake-free pictures even under poor lighting conditions. The outstanding imaging power of a 14-megapixel image sensor, combined with Olympus’ TruePicIII+ image processor delivers pictures with outstanding clarity and vibrant colour. HD video recording uses a new MPEG-4 / AVC H.264 AVC format that enables users to record beautiful, rich video with compact file sizes.

Magic Filters
The TG-810 assists in unleashing creativity with an expanded range of eight Magic Filters allowing for more fun and flexibility in your photography without the use of expensive and time-consuming computer software. The Olympus TG-810 contains Pop, Pin Hole, Fisheye, Sketch, Soft Focus and Punk inherited from the previous model, and newly added Watercolour*2 and Sparkle*3.

The Olympus TG-810’s Magic Movies recordings are available in Pop, Pin Hole, Sketch Soft Focus, Punk and Watercolour delivering a distinct look and artistic feel.

New secure lock mechanism
A result of years of experience and research, the TG-810 provides even greater reliability with an improved double-lock mechanism for even greater security to prevent the battery compartment and connector ports from being exposed to the elements.

Special underwater features
The TG-810 now allows greater ease in underwater photography. The TG-810 automatically detects when it is being used underwater and automatically activates the i-Underwater Snapshot mode, which optimised colour and white balance settings for the underwater photography. To prevent taking the camera beyond 10m, a built in pressure sensor provides a warning when the water depth gets close to 10m. A metal lens barrier will also protect the camera when not in use and a special water-repellent coating ensures clear photographs as well as easy care and maintenance when the camera leaves the water.

Smart panorama
Panorama imaging is now simple with the TG-810’s in camera panorama feature. Automatic in-camera stitching allows up to 360 degree vertical and horizontal panoramas to be created quickly and simply with a simple sweep motion.

Macro LED
The TG-810 assist close-up photography with a Macro LED, which provides photographers with an efficient colour neutral light source which can be used both underwater and on land.

Tap control function
The TG-810’s tap control function enables the camera’s key functions to be used, even with thick gloves in the cold.

Wi-Fi compatibility
The TG-810 is compatible with optional Eye Fi Cards, making sharing photos effortless by enabling you to wirelessly transfer pictures to your computer, or to online picture sharing and printing websites.

The Olympus Tough TG-810 is scheduled for release in Australia in March 2011, RRP $599 and will be available in Black, Silver and Blue.
